Hydrotherapy can be available to everyone. The goal of hydrotherapy is to translate activities done in the water to land based everyday activities. Hydrotherapy can help people who are usually wheelchair bound get out of the seated position and move in different planes of motion they are normally unable to. A hydro session can consist of swimming for cardiovascular fitness, strength training, stretching using floatation devices and balance training.
Benefits of hydrotherapy include pain relief, relaxing muscles, reducing swelling, improving circulation, different sensory input, improved postural control and relaxation.
