Ready to Reach Your Potential?
Exercise Physiologists are experts in preventing and managing lifestyle diseases and injury.
Exercise Physiology
An exercise physiologist can help you whether you are dealing with an injury or have a disability and want to live a healthier life through exercise.
An exercise physiologist can work with you to design and implement an exercise and lifestyle improvement program which will aid in the management and prevention of diseases as well as help improve your mobility, strength and functional capacity.
We utilize a unique approach where our therapists work collaboratively to ensure all aspects of your care are covered, for example, both the physiotherapist and dietitian may be required to maximise the effectiveness of the lifestyle modification program.

What does an exercise physiologist do?
An exercise physiologist performs two functions. They can help you recover from a condition using exercise and they can help you achieve a better state of health. Unlike personal trainers, exercise physiologists pursue advanced training that gives them a distinct and unique understanding of anatomy and physiology. They also acquire and practice clinical skills and assessments. Using their training and experience, theyโll prescribe a course of exercises that improve your condition.
Exercise physiology treats more than just musculoskeletal conditions. Itโs appropriate for endocrinology diseases, such as diabetes. Additionally, it can be used to treat the cardiovascular system.
What conditions can an exercise physiologist treat?
Much like our physiotherapists, our exercise physiologists can treat a broad range of conditions. They include:
- Obesity
- Arthritis
- Post-surgical recovery
- Post-trauma recovery
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Osteoporosis
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Asthma
- Other respiratory diseases
At Concentric, our approach to exercise physiology involves working within your limitations. At the same time, youโll find that the professional youโre working with will continue to push you to reach new limits. Theyโll do this in a gentle way thatโs manageable, and with repeated sessions, youโll find that your condition and capabilities gradually improve.
What does exercise physiology involve?
The type of exercises your exercise physiologist recommends will depend on what theyโre trying to treat. Some include gym-based or weight resistance workouts, which are designed to support your joints and strengthen the muscles that surround them. You may also be given a sheet of exercises to carry out at home. Maintaining your exercise routine allows you to see the best results. Finally, our exercise physiology services can also include physiotherapy strength and mobility consultations that include exercises drawn from pilates, which gently strengthen and help you maintain a sense of balance.
