CONCENTRIC Sponsors Annual Defence
Documentation Conference

CONCENTRIC has sponsored the annual conference for those connected with the challenges and outcomes of documentation, publishing and information management in the defence industry. We are representing our partner Right Hemisphere there and RH's founder and CTO Mark Thomas is one of the keynote speakers. If you would like to know more about solutions like Right Hemisphere and ENOVIA MATRIXONE for document and graphics management and collaboration, come along and talk to us on the CONCENTRIC stand.

Right Hemisphere

Visual Product Communication and Collaboration

Right Hemisphere is the leading provider of enterprise product communication and collaboration solutions enabling manufacturers to optimise their global product development launch and support processes.

Right Hemisphere maximises knowledge transfer efficiency of product information to downstream stakeholders by automatically publishing product information readily available in CAD, PLM, and ERP systems into common document formats and business applications.

Rather than waiting for physical prototypes, Right Hemisphere allows product communications to be developed concurrently with product design. By automating 2D and 3D graphics processes, the required time can also be compressed. Rich 2D and 3D product graphics can differentiate both products and services. When choosing between similar products, high impact marketing materials and the breadth of service offerings influence the ultimate purchase decision.

In addition, enhanced content for sales training, marketing collateral, and accessory catalogs can shorten selling cycles and increase sales. Right Hemisphere software is open and standards-based, leveraging key technologies such as XML, Microsoft SQL Server™, and Microsoft.NET™.

Reducing Media and Documentation Creation
and Management Costs

9:00am to 9:50am, Thursday 29th May, 2008

Presenter: Mark Thomas, Right Hemisphere

A large proportion of the lifetime costs of complex military equipment is tied up in the ongoing creation and maintenance of associated documentation. In addition, the demand for 3D training and maintenance content is also growing rapidly due to it's efficiency in displaying and navigating complex equipment.

Most all modern equipment is designed using 3D CAD and data management systems. By sourcing and using the original 3D and related data as a basis for all subsequent related media production creates an opportunity to lower the production costs for a wide range of content from IETM's, S1000D compliant technical documents, training systems and parts catalogs.

Additional cost savings can also be achieved by efficiently managing and distributing the content across currently disparate departments encouraging wide content reuse.

This talk discusses some of the recent innovations in the management of the reuse of 3D CAD data for these purposes and shows where the costs savings can be achieved in the process.
